Beautifully shaped and functional wine storage racks are a speciality of Aerni. Clad in fine wood, they upgrade a wine cellar into a presentable tasting room and ensure that your fine wines are well stored.
for Bordeaux wooden cases
This wine rack by Aerni is designed for original Bordeaux wooden cases. The tubular steel rack has eight supporting angle profiles each for inserting the wooden cases. The longitudinal joints made of U-shaped connecting rails can be coupled. The steel parts have a high-quality surface thanks to the anthracite-coloured powder coating with pearl glimmer effect.

vinotheques and restaurants
With an inventory of over 20,000 bottles, the Villa René Lalique wine cellar in Wingen-sur-Moder in France is one of the largest and most beautiful in Europe.
We further developed our AERNI wine storage rack in close cooperation with the client. Thanks to decades of experience, innovative ideas and in-house sheet metal processing, AERNI developed a unique jewel that celebrates the exclusivity of the wines stored.

Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey
The Swiss entrepreneur Silvio Denz has implemented another “flagship project”. Lalique, the brand icon of the French way of life and symbol of absolute refinement, designs prestigious hotels. After opening Villa René Lalique in 2015, which was added to the Relais & Châteaux portfolio, and Château Hochberg in 2016, both located in Wingen-sur-Moder in Alsace, Lalique now counts a third location; a luxurious hotel-restaurant in the Sauternes Crus Classés wine region, south of Bordeaux and also awarded the Relais & Châteaux label. And it is precisely there that AERNI was allowed to install its Basel-based wine storage racks in the hotel’s three wine cellars in the basement of the main building. For the vinotheque, which is open to all visitors to the winery, AERNI worked with a lighting specialist to develop and build a new type of rack with LED lighting. The rack features special details such as a bottle holder for the presentation of the individual vintages. The label is illuminated through a fine slit in the holder. The various colours of the different vintages are magnificently highlighted by the LED lighting in the shelves. In the lower section, original wooden cases can be stored on fully extendable metal shelves with an easy-close function.

Good wines need good storage
That is why the conditions under which the wines are stored are essential. We list a few points below which should definitely be observed. This will create the conditions for your fine wines to fully develop their quality and bouquet even after several years of storage.
Horizontal storage
Lay wine bottles down for storage so that the cork remains moist from the inside and lets as little air through as possible.
Cool temperature
A cool, constant temperature is crucial. Heat accelerates ageing and does more harm than the cold.
Humidity
The humidity level should be sufficiently high so that the cork does not dry out from the outside.
Low light
Wine is sensitive to light and favours darkness. UV rays are particularly harmful. Wine bottles can also be stored in their original cases.
Stability and foreign odours
Stored wine should not be exposed to major vibrations or foreign odours such as heating oil.
